GARHPANCHKOT - A MESMERISING BEAUTY WITH RUSTIC CHARM
Located in Raghunathpur Sub-Division under Purulia District, till 1750s, Garhpanchkot had surround as the historical capital for the "Sighhdeo dynasty" of the region, who were originally hailed from Rajasthan. In this landscape, at the foothills of the dense naturally forested Garpanchkot hill, the Grahpanchkot Prakriti Bhraman Kendra of WBFDC has been set up in Nineties in Bagmara village to cater and facilitate eco-tourism activities. There are, at present, twenty four numbers of AC rooms with attached bath and equipped with all modern amenities and facilities like children's play arena, AC lounges, car parking etc. The Resort provides a beautiful view of forest covered Garhpanchkot hills and the undulating topography along with serpentine pathways that add up rustic charm to the place. The guest can enjoy the nearby tourist attractions like Dharna, Panchet Dam, Joychandi Pahar, and Muradi Dam (Baranti) along with Panchkot dynasty ruins. They can also take a Nature trial walk to get an experience of the pristine flora and fauna of the region. There is one butterfly garden, Climber garden adjoining the resort. Besides being the abode for rare species like Grey Wolf, Striped Hyena, Indian Pangolin, the Panchkot Hills Support substantial diversity of Birds and Butterflies.
The local people celebrate 'Badhna Parab' and 'Chhata Parab' with great zeal. The rhythmic tribal folk dance with the stimulating drum beat from adjacent villages after sunset creates a thrilling ambience.
